So Much To Be Thankful For!

Missing this little boy so very much! Today, but everyday.

Along this journey, I have had the privilege of meeting so many amazing parents traveling the path of child loss. We all do it in our own way, but each story is special and driven by love. What if our children are up there rooting us on?

I am thankful to everyone who is helping make my dream a reality. To each person who has donated time, money, talent, and love to help build Kade’s Park! In just under a year and a half, over $34,000 dollars have been raised allowing The Playful Child Foundation to make such amazing progress! In 2019, we have worked with the City of Georgetown and the Parks and Recreation Department to secure the land for the memorial park. 6 acres located at 1306 Country Club Drive has been donated through an MOU with the City of Georgetown. Enough money was raised to complete the land survey and contract to have the conceptual design for the park and playground completed! We also held our first conference in October!

There is still much work to be done, but looking back, I am amazed at what has been accomplished! There are days I really want to crawl back into bed and give up. To run away and give up, but I look at my boys (all of them) and I find the strength to get up and keep going. To fight through the painful ache and look forward. Some days, not very far, maybe just the next step, but forward carrying pain and joy together to make something beautiful from the most horrible.

I have seen the saying “there is always something to be thankful for”. It took me a while to see this, but even on the afternoon Kade died, I can now see the blessings to be thankful for. The angels who were there for us as we faced pain like nothing we have ever known. There is much to be thankful for even as we continue to struggle in so many ways.

So, today, count your blessings and tell them you are thankful for them. Pass along kindness. Show up, make the call, share the smile, and give a hug (the long ones that make a big difference). Say thank you!

Thank you to each and every person who has worked to bring us this far! Thank you to each and every person who will help us achieve our goals! I may not have met you yet, but when I do, know I am grateful for your love and support!

Kade, I know you are watching and some day I will get a big hug again. Right now, I know you are cheering all of us along and guiding the way ❤️
