The Kade Damian Healing Hearts Park
The Playful Child Foundation has partnered with the City of Georgetown, TX, and the Parks and Recreation Department to design, build, and help maintain a public park and playground in memory of Kade Damian and all children gone too soon.
In July 2019, the City of Georgetown provided 6 acres of land located at 1306 Country Club Drive for the Kade Damian Healing Hearts Park!
The 6 acres that have been dedicated for this project is raw land. This means that we have to design and raise the funds to install utilities, roads, trails, parking lot, landscaping, playground equipment, and more.
We envision a space that allows everyone the opportunity to play, relax, remember, and honor children who now live in our hearts and memories. It is our goal to design a space that will include memorials (such as benches, tables, art, statues, trees, and plaques), trails, a natural playground, pavilion with picnic area, bathroom, parking, access to the Georgetown San Gabriel River Trail system, and ample shade. We plan to offer grieving parents the opportunity to memorialize their loved ones as we create and build this special and unique place.
Jeff Lindstrom and Meade Mitchell traveled to Georgetown, TX, on November 4th, 2019, to meet with the park design committee and get everything started. A children's design committee met in October to contribute ideas and The Playful Child Foundation conducted an online survey to solicit community input. Below are image boards that show ideas of what we visualize having in the memorial park. On December 20, 2019, the memorial park design committee met to review the final edits to the conceptual design. We are very excited about what has been created and hope these plans help you and our community visualize what a special place we are working to create!
The estimated cost of the project is $1,000,000 with a timeline of 3-5 years to complete. Our mission is to break ground on this project in late Summer/Fall 2021. With your support and investment we can achieve this goal!
To date, we have met all the goals set to remain on target to complete the park and playground within 3-5 years. The next phase is to develop construction plans for the project. TBG has been selected as the company who will help with this phase. In order to start this step, we must raise $150,000. 2020 is set to be a big year for The Playful Child Foundation! In order to meet our goal of breaking ground on the memorial park in 2021, we need to have raised the $150,000 by April 2020.
The Playful Child Foundation is looking for partners and sponsors to help build the memorial park and playground.
