The Kade Damian Children's Memorial Park
The Playful Child Foundation has partnered with the City of Georgetown, TX and the Parks and Recreation Department to design, build, and help maintain a public park and playground in memory of Kade Damian and all children gone too soon. We are currently in the development and design phase and are on track to complete the conceptual design by the end of 2019. Jeff Lindstrom and Meade Mitchell traveled to Georgetown, TX on November 4th to meet with the park design committee and get everything started. A children's design committee met in October to contribute ideas and The Playful Child Foundation conducted an online survey to solicit community input. Below are image boards that show ideas of what we visualize having in the memorial park.
The 6 acres that has been dedicated for this project is raw land. Meaning, we have to design and raise the funds to install utilities, roads, trails, parking lot, landscaping, playground equipment, and more.
We envision a space that allows everyone the opportunity to play, relax, remember, and honor children who now live in our hearts and memories. It is our goal to design a space that will include memorials (such as benches, tables, art, statues, trees, and plaques), trails, a natural playground, pavilion with picnic area, bathroom, parking, access to the Georgetown San Gabriel River Trail system, and ample shade. We plan to offer grieving parents the opportunity to memorialize their loved one as we create and build this special and unique place.
The estimated cost of the project is $500K with a timeline of 3-5 years to complete. Our mission is to break ground on this project in April 2021. Kade's Birthday is April 21st, so this date is very meaningful. With your support and investment we can achieve this goal!
The Playful Child Foundation is looking for partners and sponsors to help build the memorial park and playground. Please contact Julie Damian at to learn more and get involved!
